It was a beautiful day in Port Fairy. Blue skies, warm sun and a cool breeze off the sea. I walked the boys into town and met Evan at the causeway out to Griffith Island. We followed the basalt stone path out to the island, past the salt marsh and Mutton Bird nesting ground. As we rounded the point the red cap of the Port Fairy lighthouse came into view.
This little town has it all, a bay, a river, an island, an ocean beach, a lighthouse, heritage stone cottages.
We walked out to the lighthouse and sat on it's steps, before finding a shady Norfolk Island pine to picnic under.
The boys paddled at a sandy cove and looked for shells before we headed back.
