About a hundred Ks north of Tennant Creek, before you turn left to Mt Isa is a little station called Banka Banka. OK, I'm not sure how small it is, there could be a hundred thousand head of cattle on a million acres, but who can tell? There's a homestead and some sheds and other old corrugated and weatherboard buildings and land for travellers to set up camp for the night. It doesn't sound like much but the owners (or managers) are very welcoming and everyone gets together around the camp fire at night under a million stars. I'm going to miss places like this when I'm back in the big city.
I'll take the hum of the station generator any day over the noise of Pennant Hills Road.
We covered a bit of ground today, almost 600 km. We were stuck in Katherine for 2 nights waiting on the rim. It arrived this morning and after a new set of tyres we were back on the road just after 11am.
On to Mt Isa tomorrow.
