It's hard to get clean. As water is pretty scarce in this part of the world everything runs on bore water, pumped from deep underground. The only problem is it's rich in salts so showering in it is a bit like washing in the sea. Soap doesn't lather. However I was told by another camper that washing in shampoo works well. As the whole top end of Australia runs off bore water I don't think I'm going to feel properly clean until we hit NSW.
I've lost yesterday's post.
So I'll condense it here. We spent the day driving up the peninsula looking at parts of Shark Bay. Shell beach is made up of tiny white cockle shells. They are the sand. Due to the high evaporation in these areas the sea is very salty and you float very well.
We also had a look at Denham and spent the afternoon in the shade with the Emus by the bay.
So today was another long drive through a lot of nothing. We stopped in Carnarvon for some fresh fruit and ice cream at Bumbak's.
Blew a trailer tyer on the way into Exmouth taking a cattle grig at 110 kph.
Made it into the grotty Lighthouse Caravan Park before 6 and after dark it was finally cool enough to think.
