We had a great time on Rotto. The beaches are beautiful. White sand, not as white as Cape Le Grand, but still pretty white. Limestone headlands, snorkeling and just a very relaxed atmosphere.
We went on a tour of the Bickley Battery run by the volunteers. Rotto helped protect Fremantle during WWII, when 160 allied submarines were stationed there. There are the barracks and the remains of the gun emplacements and battery on the hill. The volies had lots of useful info but the boys just wanted to climb stuff.
We had a visit to the nurses station after R fell head first off the top bunk onto the concrete floor one morning. He's fine.
The Quokkas are in plague proportion, 18000 are estimated to live on the island and they're not shy. The boys didn't like them coming too close.
