We said farewell to Dad and Mary this morning and headed north from Perth. Two hours north of Perth are The Pinnacles, these amazing limestone structures that come out of the yellow desert sand. They are up to about 2.5m tall and look a bit like termite mounds. I remember coming to see them with my family when I was 10 and I'd remembered them being taller but I suppose I was shorter then. The boys enjoyed climbing them until we saw the sign that said "please do not climb the pinnacles". Clearly many small boys come here.
On past Cervantes and Jurien Bay to a great little camp site Sandy Cape. Only $15 a night and right behind the turquoise blue bay. After seeing the huge shark on the news last night just off Perth I was only having a paddle.
Some guys had been spear fishing at some small islands in the bay and were cleaning their huge fish on the beach and they gave us the fillets of a Parrott Fish. I pan fried it for dinner and it was amazing! They didn't offer us any lobster.
